This one falls into that category of “I liked it while I was reading it, but I’m not sure how much is sticking with me after.”
The mystery itself is interesting enough to keep you going. There’s a steady unraveling of information, and I appreciated that it didn’t just dump everything at once. It gives you pieces, lets you try to put them together, and keeps that sense of curiosity going.
But I never felt fully hooked.
I think for me, thrillers really need that urgency — that feeling of “I need to know what happens next.” And while I was definitely curious, I wasn’t obsessed. I could put it down, come back to it, and not feel like I was being dragged back in.
The characters were fine, the plot was fine — everything worked on a surface level. It just didn’t dig deep enough to make it memorable. The ended left me feeling more confused than satisfied. It didn’t feel finished, which, come to think of it… her debut novel (All Good People Here) left me feeling the same way.
It’s not a bad read. It’s just not one that’s going to stick with me long-term.
